Studio Buddies

We’re kicking off a new series featuring our favorite helpers in the studio – and I don’t mean human ones! Furred, feathered, or finned, they keep us company while we work the hours away creating the art we love. Sometimes quiet, sometimes busy, other times downright insistent on hugs, scratches, or even participating in our creations, the creative life wouldn’t be quite the same without them.

For our first instalment, we feature the studio buddies of the Art Elements team. We invite you to share your own studio buddies as links in our comments below. It could be a link to a FB page or Instagram photo, whatever works! We’ll share them in a future post.

Meanwhile, have fun perusing our crew’s buddies!

Karen Totten

Karen has worked professionally as an artist and designer for over 30 years in a variety of creative disciplines: architectural design, illustration, art direction, mixed media art, interaction design. She currently works full time as a User Experience (UX) Design Principal for an international consultancy. When not flying to work every week, her other passions are ceramic art, sketching, and occasionally, jewelry design. “For me, the creative life, from UX to fine art, has always been one of exploration and adventure. As the daughter of an air force navigator, I grew up a traveler. To this day I am intrigued by stories and motifs that transcend time, culture, and geography.“

So, do spiders and the occasional mouse count? They seem to be the only ones that will inhabit the mess that is my space! Sweet furry friends! Enjoy the day. 😉 Erin

Of course they count. You’ll have to provide some photos of that lol.

Well…the little mouse that was seen running rampant through my studio did not survive. I think he may have died of fright before he was sent on his way. But I just hate it when my beads “move” and then I have to whack at the unsuspecting spider just trying to cross the divide. Apparently they didn’t get the memo…they are fine until they show their faces and then all bets are off! 😉

This is my sweetie girl MooKitty: https://www.instagram.com/p/BFKQ6Z9uJkF/?taken-by=annms47. If she deigns to come keep me company in the studio, she sits under my chair.
