For the first time in the history of Art Elements (or AJE), we have an extra special surprise for the component of the month, and we couldn’t be more excited about it. Rather than one of the team members hosting for November, we have guest host Kristie Roeder, who is a crazy talented ceramic artist. Here she is in her own words:
I am so excited to be invited to be here hosting the Art Elements Component of the Month challenge for November. So much of the time I do not get to see how the components that I make are used in finished jewelry designs. I could not pass up this opportunity to collaborate with this great group of designers. For this month’s challenge, I found 3 donut pendants and 3 donut connector pendant/focals in similar sizing but various colors.
I have been making jewelry components professionally for almost 15 years. I had put jewelry on the back burner in recent years in order to help family, and move households a few times while I was at it. I’m happy to have set up a new studio space in my new home and get back to this wonderful bead community
My pendants, focals and beads are all made with ceramic clay. I use many different clay bodies and many different firing methods in my work. Always trying new things is a big part of the fun for me. This month’s challenge pieces are made from my own original potter’s wheel thrown and altered designs and then fused with recycled glasses in the kiln firing process.
Kristie will be selecting three readers to participate in the design challenge (READ DETAILS BELOW!!!) along with three members of the Art Jewelry Elements team. If you’d like the chance to play along with us here’s what you need to know…
Good luck! And happy beading.
